Nonprinting Black Bar
So, the big opposition to the black bar at the top seemed to be our inability to be environmentally conscious and minimize toner output and costs.
Well, it turns out that InDesign enables you to include content in a PDF that doesn’t end up printing on your printer. To achieve this, you have to turn the black bar header into a button, define that button as included in the PDF but nonprinting, and copy header information underneath without the black bar.
Since the header content is defined through text variables, it’d only be a one-time setup of including your logo on both layers: white on the black bar layer, then black on the white background underneath.
